About Me

In 2008 I graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in Geography/History and a teaching certificate. I applied for teaching jobs all over the place. When I got a call from a rural district in Alaska I did an interview. I was offered a job teaching in the 300-person village of Koyuk, Alaska. I was given two days to decide. I had long, agonizing conversations with many friends, but in the end decided, “Why not? It’s only for a year.” Fast forward to now…I’ve been living in rural Alaska for almost a decade. We are now in the larger town (2000 people) of Dillingham.
